On August 1, 2013 Terri Allen became the new Northwest Region director. Terri grew up in the Seattle area, completed undergraduate studies in psychology in Florida and later went on to earn a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Central Washington University. From graduation in 2003 until September 2013, Terri was part of a specialized behavioral team providing support to children with special health care needs who also have challenging behaviors. She specializes in the behavioral aspects of neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism, fetal alcohol disorder, learning disorders, and genetic disorders. Terri recently opened a private practice – Family Counseling & Autism Consulting – where she continues to work with kids with special needs as well as with the general population.
Terri traveled to Los Angeles in 2010 to take a Basic Intensive Training from Carleen Glasser. During the following year, Terri collaborated with Mrs. Glasser to write the online course, “The Choice Theory Classroom: Where Every Student Can Succeed”. Terri completed CT/RT certification at the national conference in L.A. in 2012. Terri has a strong interest in seeing Choice Theory/Reality Therapy become an evidenced-based practice that is recognized as a national standard. As a first step, she is working to establish a parent training program in Washington State that is based on choice theory psychology.
